Miriam and her friend, Janice McMillan, had the fortune of having their fourth period class relatively close to the cafeteria. This meant that they were pretty much guaranteed a favorable spot in the lunch line before it started to get really long. This was great for them, and students like them, because they could eat lunch first and enjoy the rest of the lunch break doing whatever. Unfortunately for the students with fourth period classes in the far reaches of the school, they had to wait in the long line only for lunch to end even while they were still eating. It was just too bad for them. Some remedied this by bringing their own lunch from home, or by purchasing a snack from the vending machines. That wasnt a big deal since a lot of the students werent particularly fond of cafeteria food anyway.

When they got home, the Whites made their usual preparations for closing the night and getting ready for the next day. Silas and Miriam showered, laid out the outfits they were to wear to school, and wrapped up any homework assignments due the next day. Nathaniel White and Bernadette Cobbs have been friends since before they could even talk. They were born and raised on the east coast in the state of Kalen. They grew up together on Fairy Island, the largest island in the archipelago just off the Kalenian coast. The city of Fairy Shores, where they lived specifically, is located on the sandy eastern shore of the island. It is part of the Fairy City Metropolitan Area and is the second largest city on the island, with Fairy City being the largest, of course. Fairy Shores has what is considered some of the finest beaches in the nation making tourism a sizeable part of the local economy. The whole of Fairy Island is the home of the Anji, an ethnic group with deep rooted cultural and historical ties to the island that goes back many centuries. The Anji make up little over half the population of the island, but there are still a significant number of them throughout the entire nation in the several states. Nathaniel

The day started typically enough, a bright and sunny afternoon with temperatures ranging from 65 to 71 degrees. Though this part of the country experiences winters generally warmer than most other areas, this day was unseasonably cool. It perhaps heralded the official arrival of spring which was only a little over a month away. The sky was filled with enormous white clouds towering thousands of feet in the air along with several crisscrossing contrail strips produced by the many aircraft flying high above the area. Also provided was a nice soothing breeze that encouraged anyone to go outdoors and enjoy this marvel of a day.
All throughout the greater Zina area, there were families and individuals out and about enjoying themselves and each other. Most of their activities were not planned as they were compelled to not waist this perfect day i
